Baaaaaaaa!

Yesterday we were lucky enough to welcome Mr Doug James and his apprentice Chloe to our school, and they brought 3 special visitors.........sheep!

We listened as Mr James told us all about sheep and how they are sheared. Then we watched as he held the sheep one by one between his legs and sheared them!

"The wool is soft. Sheep live for ten years." - Isabelle

"We got to keep some wool and then he put them (the sheep) beck and he took them back to the farm." - Ethan

"Sheep and cows have the same hooves." - Karlesha

"The sheep get hot in the spring." - Zoe T

"It was amazing and fantastic and wonderful!" - Jed

"The wool makes us warm in the winter!" - Kodee

"The sheep were fighting to not get back into the cage." - Sienna

"The sheep were trying to run away. They have a tag on their ears for the farm code. Girl sheep are ewes." - Holly

End of Term 3: BOOK PARADE and FOOTY COLOURS DAY

We had a HUGELY BUSY end to our term of learning and adventures.

Everyone at WWPS dressed up as their favorite character from a book on Thursday. The theme for Book Week this year was "Connect to Reading" so we discussed the connections we have made to books. We also talked about connections we make between books. These are called text to self connections and text to text connections.

Book Parade was a hoot! Everyone was blown away by the detail and time that went into costumes. THANKYOU FAMILIES for all your hard work!!

Below are photos of the smiling faces from both Book Parade day and Footy Colours day.

Happy Holly and Jubilant Jed!

We could hardly wipe the smiles off our faces on Tuesday 16th of September. We were all so excited to get into our day of sports! Rain was forecast but thankfully we only saw sunshine and a few grey clouds.

We were in year level groups and each group made their way through activities, in tabloid sports style. The groups were lead by our Grade 5/6 Sports ministers who did an exceptional job at being role models and organisers. Many families came out to support us and we shared a picnic lunch with them. Family members also assisted in time keeping and running the activities - thank you to those people!

Shaun is excited for Sports Day!

Our activities were gumboot throw, obstacle course, human quoits, hurdles, running race, long jump, bowling, high jump and target throw - a great mix of traditional athletics activities and fun games!

At the end of our activities and lunch we were in class teams and completed relays - egg and spoon, sack race, and baton race!

We had a wonderful day and we'd like to thank Mr Campbell and Mrs Currie for their organisation and planning, 5/6 students for leading us, and all the families who came to watch.

I think these smiling photos really show just how much fun we had. More photos to come!
Best wishes

PS. Please comment on this post: what was your favorite event of the day?

Zoo Share Night

Wednesday the 17th of September saw many of our Prep B families visit our classroom to see all the magnificent work we did during our Quest study about Zoos.
Gus and his Dad, both looking very proud.
Ethan reading his non-fiction book about meerkats to his Mum.
Kodee and his Mum reading together.

I wish to thank all those who visited and shared in our learning. It is so rewarding to see families sharing all the efforts of our amazing students. It has been such a productive and exciting term and all our learning culminated in our brilliant excursion to the Melbourne Zoo. I am so proud of the children and I know you are too. It is such a pleasure to work with you all and seeing the look on a proud parent's face is one of the many highlights of my job.

Hard at work!

Hello everyone!

We are so thrilled to see that our blog is getting visited. We encourage you to comment on the posts and let us know what you are enjoying seeing on here!

Although the school holidays are almost here, we are still hard at work.

Miss Crammond took some photos of the cherubs while they were playing their reading group games. In these games, we practise reading our high frequency words, initial sound identification, spelling and blends.

Gus and Kade play a game where they work together to match 3-letter words with their pictures.
Isabelle works industriously to complete her 3-letter word picture match board.
Harry enjoys reading questions and answering them with 'yes' or 'no'.
Zoe and Karlesha are finding the sound at the beginning of words such as 'c' for 'cup'.
Holly is playing "Sound Boxes". Students must spell the word they see in the picture, and these words have blends such as 'ee' and 'ai' in them.
